NEC FC secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after a comfortable 2-0 win over Lugazi FC on Tuesday afternoon.
The hosts, in the 6th minute, took the lead through Gideon Odongo with a powerful header, connecting well with a corner delivered by Hakim Wandera.
Just two minutes later, NEC doubled their lead. Richard Basangwa picked out Samuel Ssekamatte with a precise pass, and the forward calmly finished to make it 2-0 in the 8th minute.

The quick goals put Lugazi FC under pressure and allowed NEC to control the rest of the match with ease.
It’s the second time NEC FC have reached the quarterfinals, going all the way to the final, before falling to Kitara, in 2023/24 season.
The victory extends NEC FC’s impressive unbeaten run to 14 matches, during which they have recorded 11 clean sheets.

They join Happy Boys FC Kagaba, who eliminated Bushenyi-based Six O’clock FC in shootouts, in the quarterfinals.
