Vipers SC will hope to keep their league and cup double hopes alive as they welcome Iganga United in the Round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The Venoms are favorites to win the league, still atop with 50 points, four above Kitara in second with nine matches to go.
The Venoms will fancy their chances to defend the Uganda Cup title, as they look to complete a season double once again.
Last season, they won the League and Uganda Cup, their second double having won their first in 2022/23 season.
Three other clubs – SC Villa, Express and KCCA – have achieved the Season double in Uganda, with the Jogoos doing it six times in 1986, 1988, 1989, 1998, 2000 and 2002.
Express achieved the fate in 1995 under Jimmy Muguwa as head coach, winning the league by 13 points before beating Posta in Uganda Cup final.
KCCA on the other hand, won their recently in 2016/17 season under coach Mike Mutebi. Beat Vipers to the league title before overcoming Paidha Black Angels in Arua in the Uganda Cup final.
Vipers, this season, have already eliminated Lira-based Northern Gateway at the round of 64 before putting six past Pajule Lions at Kitende.
Karim Watambala and Milton Karisa each had a brace while Arafat Usama and Gusto Mulongo added a goal each in the 6-0 win over Pajule Lions.
And the Venoms will be going for another massacre against a Big League side that reached this stage after wins over Bwezibwera United and Melody Star.
