JKL Lady Dolphins produced a dominant second-half performance to defeat KIU Rangers 68-47 in a National Basketball League clash on Wednesday at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

The Lady Dolphins made a slow start, trailing 9-11 at the end of the opening quarter, but quickly regrouped to take a narrow 24-21 lead into halftime.

After the break, the defending champions asserted their authority, outscoring KIU 27-13 in the third quarter before sealing the contest with a 17-13 run in the final period.

Rita Imanishimwe led the charge with an outstanding double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. She was well supported by Tamasha Nsubuga, who scored 20 points, and Flavia Oketcho, who added 15.

For KIU Rangers, Sharon Kirabo stood out with a double-double of 13 points and 19 rebounds, while Ines Kanyamuneza also reached double figures. However, their efforts were not enough to prevent defeat.

JKL’s control on the boards proved decisive, as they dominated the rebounding battle 64-46 despite operating with a limited rotation of just six players.

KIU struggled offensively, particularly from long range, shooting 9-for-45 from three-point range, and were further hindered by 18 turnovers.

The victory marks JKL’s eighth consecutive win since their season-opening loss to KCCA Leopards, underlining their strong form.

Meanwhile, KIU Rangers slump to their seventh defeat and conclude the first round with four wins from 11 games.
