CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe has announced a significant increase in prize money for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.
The tournament, kicking off on Sunday, will see the winner bank USD 10 million.
The announcement was made on Saturday after a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee (EXCO) in Rabat, Morocco, a day before the kick-off of the competition.
The new figure represents a 43 percent increase from the previous edition held in 2023, where hosts Ivory Coast earned USD 7 million after lifting the trophy.
It also highlights a sharp rise over recent editions, as winners of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Cameroon 2021 received USD 5 million. The increase to USD 10 million in 2025 marks a 100 percent growth in prize money over a four-year period.
CAF also confirmed the prize structure for other top-performing teams at the tournament. The runners-up at AFCON Morocco 2025 will take home USD 4 million, while the two semi-finalists will each receive USD 2.5 million.
