The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a record 20 media rights partnerships across more than 30 European territories for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.
The expanded broadcast footprint will bring AFCON Morocco 2025 to millions of football fans across Europe, marking the most extensive European media coverage in the history of the competition.
The tournament will kick off on Sunday, 21 December 2025.
CAF says the record number of broadcast agreements reflects the growing global appeal and commercial strength of the Africa Cup of Nations and African football as a whole.
The new deals are also expected to strengthen engagement with Africa’s diaspora communities across Europe, many of whom follow the competition closely.
AFCON Morocco 2025 will showcase the best of African football talent and passion, with the expanded coverage ensuring fans across Europe can follow the tournament live.
CAF described the agreements as a major milestone in its strategy to grow the reach, visibility and value of African football worldwide.
The announcement builds on a landmark agreement with Channel 4 in the United Kingdom, which will air all 52 matches free-to-air for the first time in the UK.
CAF has also secured a new broadcast deal in Spain with Movistar, one of the country’s leading sports broadcasters.
The move to Movistar is expected to drive strong viewership, supported by Spain’s sizeable Moroccan diaspora and the deep footballing links between Spain and North Africa.
CAF has also confirmed a return to free-to-air television in Greece through a new agreement with national broadcaster ERT, ensuring nationwide coverage for the first time in many years.
In Norway, AFCON will be shown free-to-air for the first time following a new deal with VGTV.
Elsewhere in Europe, Sport Italia and Ziggo are set to continue broadcasting the tournament in Italy and the Netherlands respectively, after delivering strong audiences at the previous AFCON.
Both markets are expected to see further growth in viewership, driven by large Moroccan communities and the presence of several Moroccan stars in the Eredivisie.
In the DACH region, SportDigital is expected to continue delivering strong audiences across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
All the media rights agreements were facilitated in partnership with IMG, CAF’s international media rights and sponsorship agency.
The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 will feature 24 teams competing in 52 matches across nine stadiums, with the tournament running from 21 December 2025.
