Ugandans will have a chance to watch the prestigious 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in the comfort of their homes, thanks to MultiChoice Uganda.
Now owned by French company CANAL+, Mulitichoice officially launched the broadcast of the tourney set to kickoff in Morocco, where Uganda Cranes is part.
Through its SuperSport channels on DStv and GOtv, MultiChoice Uganda will broadcast all matches of the continental showpiece live.
This reaffirms its commitment to delivering world-class sports entertainment for a company that also top European leagues including the Premier League.
To enhance the viewing experience, SuperSport will roll out a dedicated pop-up channel, SuperSport AFCON, which will air all matches live alongside comprehensive pre-match and post-match analysis on both DStv and GOtv. Matches will also be available on SuperSport Africa 2 across the two platforms.
SuperSport will broadcast the tourney across English- and Portuguese-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa, with selected matches also aired in local languages including Pidgin, Swahili, isiZulu and Setswana.
Viewers will additionally enjoy highlights, magazine shows and podcasts, complementing the 24-hour AFCON-dedicated channel.
Speaking at the launch, MultiChoice Uganda Head of Marketing Colin Asiimwe thanked customers for their continued support, describing them as the company’s “true heroes”.
“With AFCON coinciding with the festive season, we have a unique opportunity to appreciate our customers through exciting offers that ensure they can watch the Uganda Cranes in action at the tournament,” Asiimwe said.
He announced heavily subsidised decoder prices aimed at increasing access to premium entertainment. A DStv decoder will now retail at UGX 25,000, while a GOtv decoder will go for UGX 19,000, representing a reduction of over 40 percent.
Asiimwe also revealed that from 18 December to 19 January, MultiChoice will unlock a full month of football content across all packages, giving customers expanded access to SuperSport channels featuring competitions such as the UEFA Champions League and the English Premier League.
The tournament has attracted big names like Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon), Sadio Mane (Senegal), Mo Salah (Egypt), Victor Osimhen (Nigeria), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon) and not to mention Uganda’s local stars including Allan Okello.
Nellie Mwandha, Head of Customer Value Management at MultiChoice Uganda, called on Ugandans to rally behind the national team, with all AFCON matches available live on SuperSport.
“We are delighted to launch AFCON 2025 as the official broadcaster of the tournament. From 21 December 2025, SuperSport will be the destination where families come together to enjoy all the AFCON action,” Mwandha said.
She confirmed that fans will be able to follow every Uganda Cranes match, beginning with their opening group game against Tunisia on Tuesday, 23 December, Tanzania on December 27 before concluding with their final group fixture against Nigeria on 30 December.
Mwandha also referenced the strong national support witnessed during the CHAN tournament, noting that MultiChoice is committed to ensuring fans can follow the Cranes’ journey in Africa’s biggest football competition from the comfort of their homes.
AFCON 2025 kicks off on 21 December on the dedicated SuperSport AFCON channel, available on Channel 222 on DStv and Channel 359 on GOtv, as well as SuperSport Africa 2 on Channel 230 on DStv and Channel 364 on GOtv. Fans can enjoy live AFCON action with Ka Weekie packages starting from UGX 11,500 on GOtv Plus and UGX 15,000 on DStv Access.
