CAS Receives Senegal’s Appeal Against AFCON Final Ruling

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed it received an appeal from the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

The appeal challenges CAF’s decision on 17 March 2026, which declared Senegal forfeited in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 final and awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory.

Registered on 25 March 2026, FSF’s appeal seeks to overturn the decision and be declared AFCON champions.

The federation also requested a suspension of deadlines for submitting legal arguments until CAF provides full justification for its ruling.

CAS will appoint an Arbitral Panel to review the case and establish a procedural calendar.

Under CAS rules, the appellant has 20 days to submit arguments, and the respondents have 20 days to reply. At this early stage, no hearing date has been set.

CAS Director General Matthieu Reeb said: “CAS is fully equipped to resolve this dispute. We aim to conduct proceedings quickly, while ensuring a fair hearing for all parties.”
