FUFA confirms Uganda Cup quarterfinal dates

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations has officially released the schedule for the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinal fixtures, with all four matches set to kick off at 3pm.

Action gets underway on Good Friday with a highly anticipated clash between NEC FC and defending champions Vipers SC at Lugogo.

The Venoms, who lifted last year’s title after defeating KCCA FC in the final at Kadiba, will be seeking their first victory over NEC this season after both league meetings ended in 1-1 draws.

On Saturday, April 4, URA FC face off with KCCA FC at Nakivubo in what promises to be one of the standout ties of the round.

URA advanced with a dominant 3-0 win over Tapoh, thanks to goals from Olimi Nyarwa, Moses Aliro and Godfrey Ssekibengo.

Meanwhile, KCCA cruised past Onduparaka 5-0, with Emmanuel Anyama netting twice and Said Mayanja, Alex Yiga and Sammy Ssebaduka also getting on the scoresheet.

Three-time winners URA are chasing their first Uganda Cup triumph since the 2013/14 season, while KCCA remain joint record holders with 10 titles.

In Hoima, Kitara FC will host Express FC on Christmas Day in a repeat of their previous meeting in the competition.

Kitara famously eliminated Express in 2018 via a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in normal time at Hoima Municipal Stadium.

The final quarterfinal fixture will see tournament underdogs Happy Boys Kagaba take on SC Villa on Easter Monday at Kagaba Primary School in Kassanda.

SC Villa, nine-time winners of the competition, have not lifted the trophy since 2015 when they defeated KCCA in a replayed final at Namboole. With their league title hopes fading as they sit fourth, the Jogoos will be eager to mount a serious Uganda Cup challenge.

According to FUFA regulations, any tie level at the end of normal time will proceed to extra time, played in two halves of 15 minutes each. If the teams remain deadlocked, the winner will be decided via a penalty shootout in line with Article 20(3).
