Goalkeeper Braddy Jeans Wokorach emerged as the hero as Acholi Province booked their place in the semifinals of the FUFA Drum on Saturday.
Wokorach delivered a standout performance in the penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw, helping Acholi eliminate Busoga Province at Ssaza Ground in Iganga.
The SC Villa goalkeeper denied Isaac Wagoina and Raymond Mangoli from the spot, while Eric Kibirango shot over the crossbar with his effort. Wokorach then confidently stepped up to convert the decisive penalty, sealing qualification for Acholi.
Earlier in the shootout, Brian James Obedi had struck the woodwork, but Walter Ochora and Ronald Winyi converted their kicks to keep Acholi in contention.
For Busoga, only Dickson Matege managed to score as their campaign came to an end.
In regulation time, Emmanuel Ojok had given Acholi the lead before a late controversial penalty, converted by Wagoina, leveled matters for Busoga and forced the game into spot kicks.
Acholi finished the match with ten men after Justine Opiro was sent off for a second yellow card following a reckless challenge on Reagan Kalyowa.
The result follows a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Booma Grounds in Kitgum, with Acholi advancing as they continue their pursuit of a second FUFA Drum title, having first lifted the trophy in 2019.
