Namuwongo Blazers eased past JKL Dolphins, winning 68-49, in the National Basketball League on Saturday at Abja Park in Naalya.
The Blazers quickly got out of the blocks to lead 18-7, and despite JKL taking the second quarter 17-15, they were outdone by a poor third quarter which they lost 22-09.
Peter Obleng scored 17 points while Innocent Ochera and Arthur Wanyoto had 11 points each in the win.
Moses Mugisha had nine points and 12 rebounds as the Blazers continued to persevere without Tonny Drilleba.
Fred Fetso and Emmanuel Ateng scored 11 and 10 points respectively but the effort proved not enough for the Dolphins.
Namuwongo won the rebounding battle 63-40 in a game they collected 38 points off their bench.
It’s the fifth win in a row for Coach Stephen Nyeko’s side since losing their opening game of the season against City Oilers.
It’s another poor result for JKL who came into the game on the back of a 53-49 win over UMU Flames, their second victory of the season.
Their record for the season stands at 2-4, and are most likely to be playing for survival this campaign.
