The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) has announced the postponement of this Wednesday’s games.
This decision was reached following the passing of former referee Kityo Mass on Sunday.
Kityo was found dead when neighbours broke into his home in Namasuba after they had taken days without seeing him, per reports.
Kityo will be laid to rest on Wednesday in Kiyimbwe, Masaka, where several basketball officials and players are expected to attend.
FUBA, in a statement said that the decision was taken to allow players, coaches, officials, fans and members of the Basketball community to attend the burial.
“FUBA and the NBL recognises the importance of standing together as a community during this difficult time and believes postponing the games will give the Basketball family an opportunity to pay their final respects,” reads a statement in part.
FUBA said that new dates for the affected fixtures will be communicated in due course.
National Basketball League will resume on Friday with two exciting matchups. First, KCCA Leopards will face the UCU Lady Canons in the women’s game, followed by the UCU Canons taking on Sommet in the men’s fixture.
