    Polly Ouma: Fallen Cranes Legend To Be Buried On Saturday

    Uganda Cranes legend Polly Ouma will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 3 at his ancestral home in Busia.

    Ouma breathed his last on the morning of Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

    The body of former Uganda Cranes striker has today arrived at St John’s Chapel at Mengo Senior School for the main requiem service.

    Later on Friday, his body will be taken to FUFA Kadiba Stadium in Mengo for public viewing.

    Several former players, including Paul Ssali, Fred Tamale, Tom Lwanga, William Nkemba, Edgar Watson, Mujib Kasule, Leo Adraa, George Ssimwogerere and Sam Ssimbwa, are among those in attendance.

    He represented the Uganda Cranes at a couple of AFCON tournaments including the 1978 tournament where they reached the final, a 2-0 defeat against hosts Ghana.

    He captained the defunct Simba FC to the 1972 CAF Champions League final.

    After his retirement, he transitioned into a highly successful coach, winning league titles with SC Villa, and later served as the Vice Chairman of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
