Season 11 of the Chaapa League, backed by Guinness, launched on Saturday, February 28 with a massive turnout that ranked among the largest opening-day crowds for an alumni competition in Uganda.

The full-day event unfolded at NEC Grounds in Kampala, drawing multiple generations of Mbarara High School Old Boys.

Supporters from Mary Hill Old Girls also turned up in numbers, reinforcing the league’s reputation as a key social and sporting reunion on Uganda’s alumni calendar.

Defending champions Yobo Yobo opened their title defense with a hard-earned 1-0 win over XConvicts. The most emphatic result came from DingiSwayo, who overwhelmed Ruharo 6-0.

Bulls Old Timers shared the spoils 1-1 with Omutaji, while Mutakoha edged CHOGM by a solitary goal. Burdizo secured a 1-0 result against TY Sheldon, and Kyangabukama claimed a narrow 2-1 victory over Karasande.

Other fixtures saw See Far defeat Ezekyeenda 1-0, Rugabo overcome Akaju 2-0, and SC Rwizi post a 1-0 win against Kataara. Unruly delivered an impressive 3-1 triumph over Sikukulu.

In the women’s category featuring Mary Hill Old Girls, Nihoga concluded the round with a closely fought 1-0 win against Holistics, underlining a matchday largely decided by fine margins.

Off the field, entertainment took center stage when Kataleya and Kandle performed for fans, including their popular track Totta, turning the venue into a lively celebration.

Guinness complemented the experience with branded fan zones, chilled premium beverages, and interactive activities that kept spectators engaged throughout the event.

Addressing attendees, Denise Paula Nazzinda highlighted the broader significance of the competition.

“The Chaapa League represents unity, legacy, and the power of bringing people together through football. Guinness is proud to power this platform because it goes beyond the game. Season 11 started on a high note, and we look forward to an even bigger journey ahead,” she said.

Matchday Two is scheduled for March 28.
