The Early bird registration for the 2026 Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon is now open, giving runners the chance to secure a place in one of Uganda’s fastest-growing sporting events at a discounted rate.
The fifth edition of the marathon is scheduled for August 22 in Kasese and has already attracted interest from both local and international runners.
Organisers confirmed that entries from several countries had been received within a week of the registration launch.
Under the early bird offer, Ugandans and citizens of East African Community countries – including Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda – can register for UGX 50,000.
International participants pay USD 50. These rates are valid until 1 July 2026, after which standard fees of UGX 60,000 and USD 60 will apply.
Registration is open at rwenzorimarathon.com/registration.
Sandra Againe, Tusker Lite Brand Manager, said the early bird registration was designed to give runners time to prepare.
“We encourage participants to take advantage of this window, not just for the cost benefit, but also to allow adequate training for this unique marathon experience,” she said.
The marathon, which sold out last year, attracted runners from 36 countries in 2025.
This year, organisers expect even broader international representation, supported by promotional events at major races, including the Kilimanjaro Marathon, Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town, the London Marathon, and the Comrades Marathon in Durban.
The 2026 event is now listed on the World Athletics Calendar and holds Label Race status, reflecting its growing international profile.
