UCU Lady Canons maintained its unbeaten run after a 66-55 victory over UPDF Lady Tomahawks in the National Basketball League on Wednesday.
UCU had to come from down after UPDF led the first quarter 16-13.
The Lady Canons won the second quarter 17-9 to open a 5-point advantage at halftime and never looked back.
Matrina Anyango scored 12 points while Christine Saima and Zoe Atek added 11 and 10 points respectively for UCU.
Patricia Cate Nakiru had 16 points while Ruth Letaru added 14 but the effort proved not enough for the Army side.
UCU won the rebounding battle 61-37 and collected 41 points off the bench despite committing 23 turnovers in a game they shot poorly from outside the arc.
It’s eight wins in as many games for UCU Lady Canons this season and will face JKL Lady Dolphins, Nabisunsa and JT Lady Jaguars in their remaining games in the first round.
For UPDF, this was their fourth straight defeat and sixth altogether this season. They will end their first round with a match against holders JKL Lady Dolphins.
