Express FC has completed the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinals puzzle after eliminating Red Devo FC in a round of 16 clash at Nakivubo.
Kenneth Kimera scored a brace while Henry Wamala and Herbert Assiimwe managed a strike each in a 4-0 win.
Wamala scored in the 36th minute, arriving at the far post to meet Blanchar Mulamba’s cross before sliding in for the opening goal.
Red Devo looked set to create an upset, until Kimera, off the bench, scored two quick fire goals in a one-minute space.
Kimera beat an offside trap and his marker before a neat finish to double the advantage in the 89th minute.
A minute later, after he was put through by Marvin Nyanzi, slotted in the third for Express.
The striker, on loan from Vipers, celebrated his second goal revealing an under garment with a thank you message for his mother.
Assiimwe put the icing on the cake in added time to seal a dominant victory, fitting of not only a UPL side but a joint record winner of the Uganda Cup competition.
Express is the seventh UPL side of the eight teams in the Uganda Cup quarterfinals, joining NEC FC, Kitara, Vipers, KCCA, URA and SC Villa.
Happy Boys Kagaba, a third tier side, were the first to book a quarterfinal slot having beaten Six O’clock FC.
