Vipers Lose Kitara Match by Forfeiture

FUFA has found Vipers SC guilty of failing to honour their UPL match against Kitara, initially scheduled on October 4 at Namboole.

The disciplinary panel has ruled that Vipers breached Article 16 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code.

Vipers were a no-show for their scheduled match against Kitara, as they continued their protest for the new league format which has since been scrapped.

The match has therefore been declared lost by Vipers by forfeiture.

However, the panel stated that it will not impose any additional sanctions, including the docking of three points or three goals beyond those already applicable.

In a letter from Vipers to FUFA issued in December, Vipers had criticised what they termed as administrative negligence after FUFA had delayed to give their verdict on the matter.

The Venoms argued that failure to reschedule the match had distorted the league table and misrepresented their points-per-game standing.

Additionally, the defending league champions had asked FUFA to guarantee that no forfeiture or walkover ruling will be considered, insisting that league points should only be won or lost on the field of play and not through boardroom decisions.
