Rezlife Saints stretched their perfect start to the season with a 73-63 victory over UMU Flames at YMCA Court in Wandegeya in the National Basketball League on Sunday.
The Saints made their intentions clear from the opening tip, racing to a 14-09 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Their early dominance set the tone for the contest, and they maintained control for much of the game despite spirited resistance from the Flames.
Rezlife’s balanced offensive display proved decisive. Hon Kwany registered an impressive double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, anchoring the team’s presence in the paint.
Michael Otieno led all Saints scorers with 19 points, while Edrine Ekau added 15 and Kevin Moru chipped in with 12 to ensure four players finished in double figures.
UMU Flames struggled to close the gap despite strong individual performances.
Joshua Duallo poured in 16 points, and Gai Gordon Kong contributed 12, but their efforts were not enough to overturn Rezlife’s early advantage.
The game, however, was marred by a melee in the third quarter – The incident resulted in the disqualification of Victoria Crocs players Marol Malok and Brian Taroch, along with Rezlife Saints’ Suka Fadul.
On the boards, Rezlife dominated with a 56-45 rebounding edge, underlining their physical superiority.
Although they managed just eight points from the bench compared to UMU’s 31, their control of the glass and efficiency from the starters proved decisive.
The victory marks four wins in four games for the Saints, who previously defeated UPDF Tomahawks, KCCA Panthers and Victoria Crocs.
