Coach Sheryl Botes has announced a provisional squad of 37 players for the Uganda Under-17 Women’s national team, the Teen Cranes, ahead of next month’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The Teen Cranes are set to face Zimbabwe in the first round, with matches scheduled from April 10th to 19th, 2026.
These qualifiers will determine the four African teams that will join host nation Morocco in the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Eligible players must be born on or after January 1, 2009.
Should Uganda overcome Zimbabwe, they will face the winner of the Namibia vs. Kenya tie in the second round.
The 2026 tournament will mark the 10th edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, the premier international competition for women’s youth football contested by under-17 national teams.
Morocco will host the event, which is the second of five consecutive annual editions scheduled to be played in the country through 2029.
The Teen Cranes’ squad announcement signals the start of preparations as Uganda aims to secure a spot on the global stage for young female footballers.
